The admission requirements for English Language Education Study Progamme applicants are based on national standard criteria and institutional criteria. National Standard criteria are for those who apply through two national tests namely National Selection for Entry Public University entrance selection (SNMPTN) and Joint Entrance Test for Public Universities (SBMPTN). The conditions for admission to the English Language Education Study Programme (ELESP) at a higher education institution are specified in the university. The admission requirements are formally regulated by UNG in the documents of Rector Regulation of UNG Number 2 of 2020, which are incorporated into the academic regulations of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG).
In general, the selection of two national tests can be elaborated as follow:
· The requirements of National Selection for Entry Public University (SNMPTN) are arranged by the National Examination Institution (LTMPT/Lembaga Tes Masuk Perguruan Tinggi) appointed by Ministry of Education. The requirements of SNMPTN are displayed in HEIs website. Simply, SNMPTN is a selection for graduated high school/vocational equivalent students as a requirement to enter higher education with a portfolio system or academic achievement without an entrance test. The final decision formally rests with the National Examination Board appointed by the Ministry of Education.
· The requirements of the Joint entrance test for public universities are also arranged by the National Examination Board appointed by the Ministry of Education. The requirements of SBMPTN are displayed in HEIs website. In general, SBMPTN is a selection through national tests conducted simultaneously in Indonesia. The test is conducted through a Computer-Based test. The final decision formally rests with the National Examination Board in the Ministry of Education.
· Additionally, there are Institutional requirements for those who apply through Institutional based university entrance test (Jalur Mandiri). The requirements display on HEIs website.
UNG also accepts new students through several channels including acceptance through cooperation programmes, acceptance of professional education programmes, acceptance of transfer programmes, acceptance of students with special needs.
